The Urban Forestry Technician Short term Certificate trains students for the position of forest technician offering multiple certifications to work in the forestry industry. The technician is an employee who works under the direction of a professional forester and will undertake the fieldwork that is necessary to manage the forest. The students will learn learn key priniciples and strategies for managing vegetation in all utility Right of Ways and special attention will be placed on the electrical line clearance industry. Students will learn basic concepts, such as, permits, licenses and insurance, how to identify types of m, the method to manage pests, and the ability to identify proper pesticide used in pest management. This program offers an overview of equipment use and protocols to safely perform job duties in careers with Urban Forestry, including, safety laws and regulations (OSHA), personal protective equipment (PPE), communication, first aid, electrical hazards, tree removal, equipment safety.

Upon successful completion of this program student should be prepared to sit for the following certifications: Integrated Pest Management, Ornamental and Turf Pest Control, Right of Way Pest Management, Urban Forestry, OSHA 10, CPR.
