Child Development
The Child Development program is designed to prepare students for employment as directors, teachers, auxiliary teachers and aides in preschools, child development centers, daycares, public schools and in Head Start Programs. Courses in the Child Development program are designed to meet the State of Alabama Child Care Licensing and Performance Standards for Day Care Centers and Nighttime Centers requirements.
All students in the Child Development Program are required to complete an Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance (CA/N) and a Criminal History Background Check prior to enrollment. The cost of the DHR Criminal History background check will be the responsibility of the student.
If there are any substantiated findings against the applicant or if the applicant is deemed unsuitable by the Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) it will result in the student being denied enrollment in the Child Development program.
